London Hotel Market

Average room rates bounced back strongly in April, following a slow March which contained both Easter and Half Term Holidays. Even so, rates still grew slightly in March, £1.87, or 1.23%, but that jumped to 10.4% in April, an average rate increase of £15.40 from £148.86 in 2007, to £164.30 in 2008. This continues an upward trend of over 18 months, where the issues in the

broader economy don't seem to have spilled over into the London Hotel Market.

Occupancy also rose in April, going from 79.5% in 2006, to 81.19% this year. Occupancy had fallen sharply during Easter from 81 to 77%, but this was expected by the market.
